THE CULT:
The Cult surfaced in 1984 as one of England's premier heavy metal revivalists.
They successfully incorporated the mystical, spiritual, and Native American
obsessions of HYPERLINK "javascript:z('1THE|DOORS')" the Doors,
the guitar driven arrangements of HYPERLINK "javascript:z('1LED|ZEPPELIN')" Led
Zeppelin, and the three-chord grind of HYPERLINK "javascript:z('1AC/DC')" AC/DC.
The Cult resurrected a superb and explosive sound that also glistened with
the essence of post-punk goth rock. They gained a huge dedicated following
in their native Britain during the mid-'80s just before breaking into the
American metal market.
The group managed one American Top Ten charting album with 1989's Sonic Temple.
